June 23rd, 2009 Alabama’s premier arena flag football league has begun its summer competition. The players will be tearing up the turf at the state-of-the-art Sports Blast Arena for the next two months.

The enormous indoor facility contains two fields on which soccer, flag football, and various youth camps are played year round. Rain, heat, and bugs are never a problem in this league, so the competitors are always in top form. The favorite in this year’s summer league has to be the Shangri-la Vipers, champions of the last On Tap 5 Man Flag Football Challenge (the biggest flag football tournament the arena hosts) and the 2008-09 adult winter league. However, providing stiff competition will be IPYTDAFOOL, which will look to build on its remarkable spring league season, which culminated in a 33-0 romp in the championship game.

Both fans of the game and competitors looking to join the league in the fall owe it to themselves to check out this intense and grueling competition. It will run through August, but thanks to the artificial field and the ever-perfect conditions, the action will never slow down.
